This year’s Cayenne is fully refreshed in order to match rest of the Porsche’s sports car lineup. The 2016 Porsche Cayenne lineup adds GTS and Turbo S models to already known batch of sporty off-roaders, thus mid-size luxury crossover seems complete for now. There is still a way to enhance the lineup with more progressive models, but that will have to wait.
Even in states, Porsche offers a diesel version of their crossover which features 3.0L V-6 engine making 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Base engine, however, 3.6 L V-6 petrol burners delivering 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Cayenne S gets the same engine, albeit with upgraded output curve and develops 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque thankfully to the addition of the bi-turbo system. Turbocharged engine power output can be compared with V8 and even win in that battle while the fuel consumption is nicely improved.
2016 Porsche Cayenne Back
Above mentioned, new 2016 Porsche Cayenne GTS models benefit from even more power out of this V-6 unit. They make 440 hp and 442.5 lb-ft of torque, while Cayenne Turbo and new Turbo S grades move thanks to 4.8L V-8 petrol mill. They generate 520 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, and 570 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque respectively. Last, but not the least, S E-Hybrid model combines 3.0L V-6 mill with electric motor for a total of 416 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. Finally, all models exhibit front engine and all-wheel drive layout and 8-speed Tiptronic S transmission.
Release Date For 2016 Porsche Cayenne
New, redesigned models are slightly sleeker than outgoing version, but thanks to Cayenne’s unique styling, those changes aren’t that noticeable. Frontal fascia gets rectangular grille and corresponding side intakes between foglights at the bottom and signature headlights above. Just like any other German maker’s model, 2016 Porsche Cayenne gets flared fenders, but as a crossover, it also gets much larger wheels. Around the back, it has some slim roof D-pillars and large tailgate with corresponding tail-lights. All this will be further inspected after the official release that is expected to happen during September.
