Pajero is one of the most important SUV’s, not only in Mitsubishi’s lineup, but in the whole of SUV world. Japanese manufacturer decided to delve deep into the hybrid markets and it is expected that 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid will be also delivered during the next year.
GC-PHEV concept, unveiled at Tokyo motor show this year is previewed as a next-gen Pajero. However, the concept is way too futuristic and plenty of changes will have to be made to it in order for it to become production-ready. On the other hand, powertrain looks just as it should. We are getting supercharged 3.0L V-6 engine and a 12kWh battery pack that sends power to electric motor and this combination can raise up to 430 horsepower of hybrid system net output.
Changes For 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid
As far as exterior design goes, it is still too early to speculate, but some parts of a GC-PHEV concept might find its spot in a new Pajero. Most likely, it’ll be a three-stripe grille in a similar form and a high hood with a big bumper up front. Headlights, together with wheel arches will have to be adjusted, and so will have to be the rear end, not to mention the contrasting doors.
2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid Interior
GC-PHEV’s interior is simply otherworldly and there’s just no way of seeing anything from it in a production-ready model. Three rows of seats, all of which are furbished with available leather upholstery should be enough to seat up to seven people. Metallic accents and wood grain touches should slightly raise Pajero’s appeal and a sturdy dash will most likely keep its overall design. Touch screen display which is easily accessible in present models shouldn’t be changed, only modernized. Rear seat DVD entertainment system with twin 9-inch screens and a 12-speaker Rockford sound system will remain optional on higher grades, and plug-in version should receive them as well. Safety features should be upgraded for the next generation and beside all the features Pajero has now, it’ll most likely get blind spot monitors and other advanced electronic safety options.
2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid Price
With the battery pack found in the concept, this car should offer an all-electric range of about 25 miles. Combined hybrid cycle numbers should also be good, but it is way too early to manipulate with these numbers. Without a doubt introduction of a plug-in model it will be possible to significantly reduce fuel consumption. For a borderline luxury SUV like Pajero, be prepared to pay some $50,000 or more.
Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid Side
What we also need to add is that we were able to see few more hybrid and plug-in hybrid concepts from this car maker and it is a guarantee that they are really working on delivery of those options. Just like many we can agree that the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid is one of the best places to start since it requires large amount of fuel.
2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid Back
Pajero is slowly, but steadily entering its fifth generation. This new generation of SUV’s should arrive in 2016 and might be returned to US where this model was discontinued in 2006. Plug-in hybrid markets aren’t that wide spread and return to the states seems as the only logical solution at this time for the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Hybrid.
