There are a lot of people that are looking for a more luxurious full size pick-up truck but unfortunately there aren’t many options out there. One of these that could bring slightly more than others is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 but if you want more you will probably have to opt for some special edition.
There are a few strong contenders but usually they can’t offer the luxury we are used to see in Cadillac or luxury sedans. Well, if you are in this kind of dilemma then take into account that the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 as one of the few pick-up trucks that can offer the comfort similar to Cadillac, the off-road capability of a Hummer and the towing capacity of a full size pick-up.
2016 GMC Sierra 1500
The new model is set to incorporate a new set of improved engines that will be based on those of the previous generation but these will use less fuel while being just a bit more powerful. The base one still is a 4.3 liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. If this isn’t enough for you than the 5.3 liter might be just the perfect option. This V8 is good for 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The most powerful engine in this truck though is the 6.2 liter V8 that is good for around 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque making it a real tire shredder.
Changes For 2016 GMC Sierra 1500
There might also be available for the first time on the 1500 model a Duramax Diesel that is going to be a real saver for people who want a smaller car but that manages to keep the towing capacity of the bigger 2500. Expectations suggest that the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 will come with 6.6 liter Duramax V8 turbocharged diesel unit and even at this point we still do not have any confirmation’s about this we could see few spy photos of test mule with diesel unit. Power ratings are not delivered but looking at the current offer from Ford and Dodge we could be getting more than 420 hp and more than 800 lb-ft of torque.
GMC Sierra 1500 Side
Fuel consumption is also good with the smallest engine being able to return around 21 MPG on average and 18/24 mpg in city/highway drive conditions which is not that bad for such a large car. The V8 on the other hand will return 16/23 mpg unfortunately and can go as low as 9 to 10 MPG while towing heavy cargo. Those drivers that want to reduce fuel bill but still to have huge amount of torque and power should consider diesel option.
2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Review
The Sierra comes in a few trimming options but the most luxurious of them all is the Denali that can be had either with an off-road package that raises the entire car by a couple of inches and fits it with all terrain tires or regular that comes with 20 inch rims and street tires. The latter comes as standard with the V8, an eight inch screen inside the cabin for the infotainment system, climate control and a premium audio system that can put to shame the audio of much more expensive cars. Also, you can choose the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 as Regular Cab, Double Cab or the Crew Cab which brings different bed and interior space.
2016 GMC Sierra 1500 Back
In conclusion the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 is going to be a car that will apparently have all the best features. It is really comfortable, quite good off-road and brilliant on it. The engines are powerful enough to drive you where you want but it has a small drawback, its fuel consumption. If you’d like the new model then you will have to wait until the summer of 2015. Expect to pay around $27,000 for the base model and as much as $50,000 for the top of the range one.
