The Captiva has been around on the market since the early 2006, so it is quite an old model even though there have been a few upgrades and facelifts across its life span. The car is scheduled to get a total makeover coming to the market as 2016 Chevrolet Captiva and this will not only improve the general design of the car but it will also introduce new engines in the range.
The 2016 Chevrolet Captiva is going to be a family car that will feature 7 seats as standard which is a big plus for people with large families. It will come with most of the commodities you would expect from such a car as standard which means that you don’t really need to spend anything extra over the base price. The car will be released on the market somewhere in the early 2016 at a price of around $22.000 for the base model. The more expensive and better equipped models are going to cost in excess of $40.000 but these will come with some premium features.
2016 Chevrolet Captiva Side
Engine wise, the car will most likely get brand new units. These should include a 2.4 liter inline 4 with around 190 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Options should include a 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged engine that is already on other cars in the range. This powerplant should push about 260 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The most powerful engine though is going to be the 3.6 liter V6 with just over 270 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
Specs Of 2016 Chevrolet Captiva
All of these three engines are going to come as standard with a 6 speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive. You will be able to get on the turbocharged one a 6 speed manual also but this isn’t recommended considering the fact that the automatic is already a pretty good transmission. Four wheel drive is available with the 6 speed automatic on the aspirated base engine and the V6 but it doesn’t offer lockable differentials so off-road performance is quite poor.
As we said at the start, on the interior you will get climate control, a premium audio system as well as a small 5 inch satellite navigation display. You will also get as standard cloth upholstery with electric front seats and reclining middle row of seats. Options include a bigger eight inch screen, leather upholstery as well as a much better surround sound system.
2016 Chevrolet Captiva Back
On the exterior, the car will feature a much more imposing grille, Xenon headlights that will also include LED for the daytime running lights and also a front bumper that will include a splitter in order to minimize noise at high speed. It will also get new rims that will help differentiate it from the rest of the cars in its class. The 2016 Chevrolet Captiva should also get a sport model that will feature different body kit and an improved version of the V6 but isn’t certain just yet.
