The Enclave is the car which managed to resurrect the Buick brand when it was launched back in 2008 and for a short time, it was also the best-selling mid-size crossover on the market. However, time has passed and because the car remained mostly the same as before, it started to lose market against the newer competition and because of that GM could give the car the much needed update with the 2016 Buick Enclave.
However, the 2016 Buick Enclave is not really what we expected and in fact, it is the same car as before with minor cosmetic changes and a new trim level which is quite expensive and not really worth it for most people. If Buick wants this model to be attractive and competitive they will certainly need to work a little bit on these few things to improve it.
2016 Buick Enclave
The actual model has been released more than a month ago and it will be available for sale starting with the mid of 2015. The base price remained at $40,000 which is still quite good considering the car is able to offer in its base trim more than most of its competitors. The top end Tuscan Edition trim which is also the new addition to the range, is going to cost more than $50,000 and it includes quite a bit more than the base car, not only in terms of technology but also appearance changes which are meant to give it a more unique look.
Changes For 2016 Buick Enclave
The best part about the Enclave is the fact that it is a seven seats crossover, so even though it isn’t the best off-road car or even the best highway cruiser, it manages to combine these two in quite a nice package. In fact, GM hopes that the 2016 Buick Enclave is going to sell a lot better than the previous generation because of the Tuscan trim which includes all the optional extras of the base model and a few more.
Engine wise, the Enclave is powered by the same old 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 which isn’t exactly the most powerful or even the most fuel efficient engine in its class. However, while it lacks these two, it manages to provide excellent smoothness and quite a nice on-road behavior. With 286 horsepower and a lot of torque available from quite low down the range, the engine pulls the massive car with no problem whatsoever. Also, thanks to the standard 6 speed automatic and the optional all-wheel drive system, the driver will really be able to enjoy driving this car.
Buick Enclave Interior
In the near future, the Enclave is actually expected to receive an even better engine which would derived from the same 3.6 liter V6 but this time with two turbochargers which would up the power to around 380 horsepower and it would allow it to finally compete with the EcoBoost offerings of Ford.
2016 Buick Enclave Interior
On the interior the 2016 Buick Enclave remained identical to the older generation. However, the Tuscan edition model received quite a few upgrades such as a dual-electric moon-roof, 8-way adjustable seats in the front with included ventilation, a heated steering wheel as well as premium leather upholstery with a different pattern than that on the usual car. As a bonus, the Tuscan model comes with 4G LTE connectivity, a permanent satellite link and Wi-Fi for its passengers.
2016 Buick Enclave Back
Exterior of the 2016 Buick Enclave is just as impressive as the interior, so while the actual body is identical, there are a lot of new things such as a golden front grille, 20 inches chrome wheels and even gold trimmings on the body for the Tuscan trim. Besides that, the rear bumper is now a bit different with a upgraded dual exhaust system with golden pipes that give the car a really exquisite look. The only drawback we see here is that it will only come in a brown chocolate color which is great but it doesn’t really give the buyer a lot of options.
