2015 Volkswagen Tiguan Review And Price

Even though the current version of the Tiguan has been around since 2007 in one form or another, it is actually quite a new model in the US, being sold there only since 2011. The car went through a facelift in its life and it is currently also going to receive another one next year. The 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan is going to receive new amenities inside and also outside, an improved engine and also a lowered price for the base version.

Even though it is a small crossover the car also competes with small family cars thanks to its competitive price and the high level of quality of the interior. The car will cost around $25,995 for a base S model while the top end R-Line AWD models will go up to as much as $39,235.

Price Of 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan

Unfortunately, in the US the new Tiguan will only be available with a single engine, a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 that is good for 200 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The engine is smooth, offers good power from quite low down the rev range and it is one of the most reliable engines out there. The disadvantage is that it has to compete with hybrid drivetrains and diesel engines and this means that the 24 MPG average fuel consumption just isn’t enough for its class. You can expect it to return 21/26 mpg in city/highway drive conditions.

This engine is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission as standard which gives you better control over car and sends power to front wheels. The gearbox offers nice feedback but it is quite hard to use, at least for some people and we know that US buyers are used to automatic transmissions. The optional 6 speed automatic is a much better choice for 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan because it is much smoother and easier to use. This one is also available with a four wheel drive system that will get you from pretty much anywhere thanks to an electronic control system and electronic differentials.

This new model also includes a rear view camera, a 4 inch screen for the audio system and also a smaller screen in the dashboard for different information plus for the camera. The audio system has been upgraded to a standard 8 speaker setup while the front seats can be now adjusted on high as well. Options include a dual zone automatic climate control system, a better audio system with 17 speakers and also leather upholstery that will please anyone.

Its exterior will be quite similar to that of the previous car. There are however a few changes that took place, mostly to the front of the car. There is a new set of headlights with integrated daytime running lights and also a biXenon system. The back of the 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan will remain pretty much unchanged with the exception of the added LED in the tail lights.

Release Date

The 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan is already available for order on some markets while we do expect it to come to larger number of dealerships in the next few weeks. Looking at the market situation with this and competitive models it is obvious that compact sport utility vehicle market is getting stronger and that more buyers is expected to be drawn to these cars.
