The 2015 Subaru Forester is going to be a small facelift to the old model which means that there won’t be any significant changes to the car’s exterior or interior. There is going to be an improved engine management system that will lower fuel consumption by a small margin but it will keep the power at the same level, so that will be quite adequate.
If you want the new Forester then you will have to wait by the end of the year when it will become available in showrooms. The base model will set you back from $22.195 which is almost $3000 less than its main competitor, the CRV. Top of the line is the 2.0XT Touring that will cost $33,095 but with a lot more offer than the base version.
2015 Subaru Forester Specs
The engine of the car, as we said before, is quite good. The standard 2.5 liter naturally aspirated boxer is good and has enough torque to move the car without too much trouble but it lacks any kind of punch. It offers 170 horsepower and around 165 lb-ft of torque. For a bit more money you will be able to get the 2.0 liter turbocharged I4 unit that is good for 250 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. You would expect a high towing capacity for this engine but unfortunately all of the models only have a towing rating of just 1500 pounds because of the gearbox.
2015 Subaru Forester Engine
Transmission wise, the new Forester is delivered with manual six speed or the CVT gearbox. The more powerful model even has paddle shifters behind the steering wheel that lets you select gears but not much else. Because of this gearbox the car feels quite slow even with the turbocharged engine. It would be great to see manual transmission that offers much better control over the car in combination with turbocharged engine.
Less powerful 2.5 liter four cylinder unit will propel 2015 Subaru Forester from 0 to 60 mph in about 9 seconds and the more powerful 2.0 liter turbocharged unit will do the same sprint in 6.3 seconds which is quite incredible time. Fuel consumption is 24/32/27 mpg for base engine and for the turbo 2.0 is at 23/28/25 mpg in city/highway/combined drive cycle.
Subaru Forester Side
Its interior is quite well equipped with a radio/MP3 player as standard, air conditioning and a very good quality cloth upholstery. Options include ventilated and heated seats, a fully leather interior with electric front seats, a satellite navigation system and an infotainment system. All of these can be had as standard on the top of the range model for no extra cost.
Review Of 2015 Subaru Forester
The exterior on the other hand isn’t any different to that of the old model except the addition of a new front spoiler. Besides this there is not much else. You still get Xenon lights in the front and LED at the back, 17 inch wheels as standard and a different front grille with smaller gaps in it.
2015 Subaru Forester Interior
In conclusion, the 2015 Subaru Forester is going to be an awesome car for the money that will provide some serious competition for all the other medium SUVs. Among those strongest competitors we need to mention vehicles like Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V but also Subaru Outback.
