Even though Infiniti decided to change the name of their cars, the Q70 is the same old model that features the same engine only with minor tweaks that makes them compliant to the new standards. The 2015 Infiniti Q70 is also going to introduce a new trim option that is said to be the sports variant of the car. It is supposed to compete with other offerings from AMG and Audi’s own RS brand.
The new Q70 will feature all the commodities of the previous generation with a few new additions like electric rear seats, ventilated and heated front seats as well as a better satellite navigation with a slightly bigger screen. Unfortunately, room in the rear for the short wheelbase version is still quite poor for such a large car and the fact that you don’t get dual zone climate control and a premium audio system as standard is lacking considering all of its competitors offer these and a few extras.
2015 Infiniti Q70 Back
Engine wise there is nothing changed in 2015 Infiniti Q70 compared to the previous generation. The base engine still is a small 3.7 liter V6 with enough power for most things. It is able to provide up to 330 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. You can opt for a bigger 5.6 liter V8 with roughly 420 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. The downside of this engine is the fact that the car being so heavy, fuel consumption is really poor. The V6 can average around 24 MPG while the V8 can barely hit 22 MPG! This is almost 30% worse than most of its competitors which is quite sad.
2015 Infiniti Q70 Review
The best alternative would be the more expensive hybrid power-train which can offer 360 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque from 3.5 liter 300 horsepower V6 and a 60 horsepower electric motor. This is also the most fuel efficient of them all at around 31 MPG on average! With introduction of hybrid model Infiniti significantly increased the number of potential buyers it can target.
2015 Infiniti Q70 Back Seat
All of the three engines are available with only a single 7 speed transmission that is quite smooth but it lacks the speed of changing gears for such a powerful car. The 2015 Infiniti Q70 is available either with rear wheel drive, which features a limited slip differential, or an all-wheel drive system with adaptive torque vectoring.
On the outside of the new 2015 Infiniti Q70 we will see minor improvements to better fit the entire range of cars. Firstly, both the headlights and the front grille have been changed to make for a more aggressive car. Now, the headlights come as standard with LED for both the low-beams as well as for the fog-lights which is quite a novelty in its class. The back of the car on the other hand has remained pretty much unchanged with the exception of a new exhaust system.
Release Date Of 2015 Infiniti Q70
Price for the 2015 Infiniti Q70 will be set at around 50.000$ for the base model and around 65.000$ for the most expensive one. Depending on the engine, trim level and chosen optional features price will vary. It will be available starting with the fall of this year so we can expect to see it pretty soon in dealerships all over the country!
