There are many people who just don’t need a hardcore SUV because most of them just use their car in the city or on the highway and take it occasionally on dirt roads. This is where the crossovers shine because they offer MPV like interior space as well as a four wheel drive system and a higher ground clearance. Well, the 2015 GMC Acadia is such a car with great interior space and a very good platform that will not let you down no matter what.
The car is expected to be available for sale somewhere around the end of this year at a base price of around $34.000 which put it in class with other European MPVs and small SUVs. This is a great place to start and certainly we do hope it will be able to compete with other models on the market. Let’s see how good the Acadia actually is.
2015 GMC Acadia Release Date
Firstly, let’s start with the interior. The car has a really nice feel to it and features premium materials like good quality cloth upholstery, very comfortable seats and easy access to the rear row of seats. On top of these there is a dual zone climate control system, rear view camera and a 4.8 inch screen for the audio system. Options include satellite navigation, triple zone climate control, premium audio system with Bluetooth and Internet connectivity as well as a massive moon-roof. Be careful when choosing optional features since those will significantly increase the price of the vehicle.

The exterior on the other hand is somewhat special. The car resembles both an SUV and a MPV so it is a bit longer than usual. The 18 inch stock wheels and the black trimmings and wheel arches give it a very tough look while the high ground clearance will make sure that you won’t get stuck. The headlights only have Xenon on the low beams and unfortunately there isn’t any type of LED available. This is one of the things that could be improved and we are sure it will happen in the next few years.
GMC Acadia Back
Taking a closer look at the new 2015 GMC Acadia and what it offers in engine department we can see that it features a brand new 3.6 liter V6 engine. Over the previous generation this one features a better electronic control system as well as a new intake. Thanks to these it sounds much more natural while the power has gone up a bit. It now provides from 281 to 288 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque which makes it quite adequate for the weight of the car.
Redesigned 2015 GMC Acadia
Unfortunately there is only one 6 speed automatic transmission that is good when coupled to the front wheel drive system but quite sluggish when it is mated to the four wheel drive system. Besides this, it is quite smooth and offers a really nice feedback when changing gears. With this setup you can expect to achieve 17/24 mpg in city/highway drive conditions.
2015 GMC Acadia Side
There is no doubt that the 2015 GMC Acadia comes as a great solution for those drivers that need larger vehicle but not looking for a full size SUV. This crossover has many advantages like far better fuel efficiency, design, looks and lower price than most similar and larger models.
