The 2015 Chevrolet Equinox is a new model of this crossover vehicle and it has been in production since 2004. It is based on THETA uni-body platform, same as Opel Antara, Chevy Captiva and GMC Terrain sold only in the Middle East. It is assembled in CAMI Automotive plant in Ontario, Canada.
This vehicle was made in cooperation between GM and Suzuki, but now it is fully owned by the GM. In 2010 this model became a second generation vehicle, and it received some bigger changes in its interior, exterior and performance segment. One of the things that we expect for some of the future models is for it to deliver redesign and fully upgraded looks but that is something that will not happen with the 2015th model.
2015 Chevrolet Equinox Side
On the outside it is very obvious that this model was made under some influence of GM trucks. Although if you look at it from the front, spacing between headlights and the grille makes it look like a tall station wagon, while its truck influenced rear styling fulfills its crossover name. It looks like a smaller version of Chevrolet Traverse, but it is maybe just a little bit chunkier. In spite of all said, Equinox does have some car-like exterior features, which makes it to stand tall among the other models from the Chevy line-up.
Specs Of 2015 Chevrolet Equinox
Engine of choice for the base Equinox is a 2.4 liter four cylinder that delivers 182 horsepower. This isn’t bad, but it’s definitely can’t be called superb or awesome. For awesomeness there is another peppy 3.6 liter V6 that comes with 301 horsepower, which is great for its class, but it is less affordable considering its uses much more fuel. Both engines come with six speed automatic transmission, and possibility to choose between front and all-wheel drive.
2015 Chevrolet Equinox Interior
Interior of the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox is a good match to this vehicle’s exterior design, but doesn’t really look like anything we’ve seen in other Chevy models. One of the things that this models shouldn’t be proud about is its door and dashboard trims, that look and feel cheap. We know this isn’t Lexus or Cadillac, but this isn’t good enough even for the eighties East European models, this is a segment that certainly needs to be upgraded for this model to become more competitive. Upholstery is also a big disappointment, cloth that comes with the base model also looks really cheap.
Chevrolet Equinox Back
On the other hand Equinox is very spacious in both front and back and it comes with enough cargo space, only the cargo floor is a little bit too high. When it comes to interior features, this model is well equipped. It offers the OnStar 4G LTE data connection, which can establish Wi-Fi hotspot inside the vehicle. An innovative infotainment system is included and you will be getting voice activated MyLink connectivity system and a few USB ports.
2015 Chevrolet Equinox Price
Price for 2015 Chevrolet Equinox goes from $24,520 for the base version to $33,670 for the LTZ version that comes with either 2.4 liter inline four or the 3.6 liter V6 and both models with all-wheel drive. This is a good price considering all the interior features you get, but considering materials used in designing the interior it definitely isn’t a bargain.
