Compact cars usually have a pretty low standard for quality, performance and comfort. Fortunately, this isn’t the case with the new 2015 Buick Verano which is one of the few compact cars that offer premium quality on par with bigger and more expensive models, good engine options and also an attractive price tag.
The car itself is based on a GM modular platform that is also shared with the European Astra as well as other small family cars from the GM range. It is built on a front wheel drive chassis and thanks to this it is really easy to drive and also offers a good safety rating that it’s bigger than the average! Price for the new car is going to start at around $24,000 for the base model.
2015 Buick Verano
Engine wise the new Verano is going to feature two engines. The first one is an older unit of 2.4 liters with around 190 hp and as much as 175 pound-feet of torque. All we can say about it is that it is adequate and nothing more. Fuel consumption for this engine is good at around 28 MPG on average. The other choice you have is a smaller 2 liter engine that is turbocharged. Power for this comes at 240 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. Its main advantage is not the bigger power rating but the better fuel efficiency, being able to clock in around 31 MPG on average!
2015 Buick Verano Specs
Both of these engines are available as standard with a 6 speed automatic that is also found on others Buick cars. The gearbox is smooth and changes gears quite fast but it lacks any kind of feedback. If you’d like the 6 speed manual then you have to look to the turbocharged engine because it offers it as an option.
2015 Buick Verano Interior
Inside the 2015 Buick Verano we will see pretty much all the things that are missing from a compact car starting with the standard climate control system, the RDS radio and the small 5 inch satellite navigation system. If you’d like Buick can add in a dual zone climate control, bigger screen for the GPS system and also a novelty in many cars, not only those in the compact class, LTE connectivity. Its only drawback inside are the small rear seats that just don’t offer enough headroom for adults in order to sit comfortably.

The exterior on the other hand looks great. Being a European car on the inside, the outside just says Buick. It has a nice front chrome grille that gives it a really nice stance, the headlights and the tail lights both include LED for daytime driving and also Xenon for the headlights. Wheels look good and there are quite a few options of them. These come with low rolling resistance tires for the best fuel consumption and lowest noise rating.
