Acura TLX is a mid-size luxury sedan designed by the famous Honda’s Los Angeles Design Studio. It was first reveled as a “TLX Prototype” and it was meant to replace a TL and TSX models. Production version of 2015 Acura TLX premiered on 2014 New York Auto Show, which was only few months after prototype version seen light on North American Motor Show in Detroit.
Together with TLX production version, Acura started production of Acura GT, sports version of this model meant for car races. GT comes with twin turbocharged V6 engine and it entered racing world on the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge. Main topic of this article is the TLX model so we will keep it about it.
2015 Acura TLX Engine
TLX comes with the same wheelbase as TL sedan, but it is also almost 4 inches shorter. This cut doesn’t influence cabin space since those inches were cut off from the front and rear overhangs in an attempt to make new model more sporty looking, without sacrificing interior space. New model comes with Jewell Eye headlamps and standard Acura themed grille. It also comes with accented lower intakes, with chrome trims and winglet like elements that make this model’s fascia sportier.
2015 Acura TLX Review
New model comes with the same amount of legroom, as its two predecessors. Acura invested a lot in making this vehicle more luxurious than previous two models, so inside the cabin we can find one piece soft touch dashboard with wood grain and alloy inserts. There are some more luxurious additional options, like Milano leather upholstery that covers the seats, but also some parts of the interior, like steering wheel, parts of dashboard and door trim. Sets are generally supportive and those at the front come with heating and ventilation, there’s also USB connectivity, keyless start and entry and LED accent lighting. Star of TLX’s hi tech offer is a 7 inch multi use touch screen that is placed on the central part of the dashboard and enables the driver to operate navigation system in 3D.
Acura TLX Back
TLX comes with two possible engine options. It predecessor, Acura TL came with two V6 engines, but in new model smaller V6 is replaced with 2,4 liter inline four cylinder engine, that can deliver 209 horsepower and 182 pound feet of torque. More powerful option would be the old 3,5 V6, that although little bit outdated is still powerful enough to give nice performance. It can deliver 290 horsepower and 267 pound feet of torque but modernization for this unit would be great since it would further improve fuel economy.
